Governing Boards of Catholic voluntary aided schools, independent schools and Boards of Directors of Catholic voluntary academies are the employers and the admissions body for the school. These boards often consist of members drawn from a range of backgrounds, where formation in the authentic Mission of our Catholic schools is vital.

Foundation Governors are appointed in the name of the Diocesan Bishop and they form the majority of the Board. They have a legal duty to preserve and develop the Catholic ethos of the school and to ensure that it is conducted in accordance with its Trust Deed.  Their responsibility is not only to consider the interests of their individual school or college but also the interests of other schools and colleges and Catholic education in general across the Diocese and system.

Our bespoke Governance training, led by experienced professionals, rooted in Mission-Vision, enable a forum for groups of governors to explore current issues and challenges facing schools.

Appropriate themes include:
L1 – Mission & Governance
L2 – Accountability & Inspection: SMSC & Catholic Social Teaching
L3 – Role & Authentic Curriculum Distinctiveness
L4 – Gender Equality & Diversity

Specific Gender & Equality training days can also be arranged, centring on equality and the challenges facing Catholic schools. Training gives delegates an understanding to the relationship between the Equality Act 2010 and Catholic teaching. Sessions focus on understanding & appropriately responding to challenging contextual issues and managing Ofsted requirements regarding equality, formulating an appropriate response.

Challenges faced from a medical practitioners perspective, spiritual implications and practical application form the basis of the training.

Training can be arranged by contacting Sr Judith Russi to explore themes, and costs.
