Building the Kingdom

Building the Kingdom — Faith, Learning, Action

An EducareM programme

Building the Kingdom

Distinctive Catholic curriculum design for the transformation of society.

Faith • Learning • Action

A curriculum rooted in mission

Building the Kingdom supports schools to develop a radical twenty-first-century Catholic curriculum: contextualising national curriculum learning within the Gospel and the beliefs and values of the Catholic tradition.

Through the National School of Formation, EducareM has developed a dynamic and challenging approach to teaching and learning which incorporates Catholic Social Teaching, strengthens the Catholic life and mission of the school and maintains the highest aspirations for learning.

Programme impact

From curriculum content to faithful action

Schools use Building the Kingdom to make the Catholic character of their curriculum coherent, authentic and transformative.

Progressive professional formation

Three programme levels

Each level explores a different dimension of curriculum design. Delegates may progress through all three, whether new to Building the Kingdom or returning to develop their practice.

1

Purpose and meaning

Use themes from the liturgical year and big questions to contextualise learning across the curriculum, strengthening existing mapping, Catholic Social Teaching and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

2

Curriculum connections

Identify wider opportunities across subject areas to embed Catholic Social Teaching and SMSC, ensuring that learning is meaningfully connected with the mission of a Catholic school.

3

Advocacy and action

Move into greater depth by developing each child’s gifts for the transformation of society, including purposeful oracy projects and Building the Kingdom Talks.
